  • Looking to Upgrade My Pro 2040 to the Newest Generation of Firewalls

  • We currently have an old Pro 2040 that we have heard will be reaching End of Life at the end of this year. We would like to upgrade the device to a similar appliance but will a little better performance. Running the Security Services on the 2040 has cut into our bandwidth quite a bit and would like to make sure we don't run into the same problem with the new device. Please let me know your recommendation. by Todd Carper - Firewalls.com

  • Small business in need of firewall that support multiple WAN connections

  • I am currently supporting a small business and am looking for a router/firewall that can support and load balance multiple WAN connections. We currently have a T1 from Qwest with 8 public IP's and also a 50Mb cable connection from Cox with 1 static Public IP and a CIDR block of 16 static Public IP's. The Cox single static IP and the CIDR block are not in the same subnet. I would like to be able to address all of the Public IP's to NAT addresses inside the firewall. These would be for SMTP, RDP, Outlook Web access, etc. I would also like to be able to load balance outgoing connections. The incoming connections for SMTP would use round robin DNS to balance the incoming SMTP. I would like the capability for all outgoing traffic to be routed through one WAN connection if the other WAN connection failed. We are supporting approximately 60 internal users for internal/external email, internal server applications and outgoing web access to the internet and external web access for Outlook/smart phones. We are also running Blackberry Enterprise Server for about 70 phones. We support internal VOIP, but none of the VOIP connections connect outside the internal network. Can you suggest an appropriate firewall that can meet our needs? We are currently using pfSense running on a rack mounted PC. by Phil Petit - Firewalls.com
