The SonicWall TZ 210 is a very good router. It has wizards that make most setup tasks a breeze. Setting up VPNs between locations is very easy when aided by the included wizard. For advanced users, this unit is packed with features that follow an object oriented model. The TZ 210 is much faster than the previous models that I have worked with. I had a little trouble registering the device and had to do that manually. That feature could stand some improvement.

I have worked with dozens of lower cost home and small business routers. I can tell you that you get what you pay for. The TZ 210 is more expensive than the home and small business routers that you get at the big retail office supply outlets, but these things work day in and day out with very little maintenance. In most cases, you set it up and forget about it. I have also worked with the Cisco ASA 5505, which is comparable in price and features. In my opinion, the SonicWall TZ 210 simply blows the ASA 5505 away. I also purchased a SonicPoint-Ni wireless access point. I have worked with the Cisco Aironet 1250. Again, the SonicPoint blows the doors off the Cisco in price, ease of setup, and performance. Plus, Cisco does not stand behind their products very well.

Finally, I purchased the SonicWall products from Firewalls.com after getting a good recommendation from a friend. I had some questions about the products I planned on purchasing. I emailed them and got an accurate and prompt reply. The price is as good as I have seen and the transaction went very smoothly.

the TZ 210 firewall surpasses all other firewall models when it comes to raw Internet throughput speed. However, this is accomplished by not having any UTM security services enabled.

If you need a basic, high-throughput, fast-vpn appliance then the 210 is the right choice. (Posted on 5/20/09)
