VPN Troubleshooting: Received Notify: INVALID_ID_INFO

In this video you will learn how to troubleshoot a VPN tunnel that is generating the error message "Received notify: INVALID_ID_INFO".
Consider the scenario:

  • You setup a site-to-site VPN tunnel where both VPN gateways have public IP addresses; IKE Main Mode is used.
  • After creating the needed VPN policy on your SonicWALL firewall, you wait for the familiar green light to appear near this VPN policy indicating that the VPN tunnel is up and running.
  • However the green light does not appear, so looks that something went wrong.
  • IKE logs are useful for troubleshooting this failing VPN tunnel.
  • You can find IKE logs within SonicWALL’s management interface under the Log menu; from there you notice the "Received notify: INVALID_ID_INFO" IKE error message.
