Yes. The AP230W needs an active Standard or USP Wi-Fi Management license to activate and run in WatchGuard Cloud. Both are available in 1, 3, and 5 year terms, and our AP230W bundles pair the hardware with the license so you can order everything in one step.

Yes, and it doesn't depend on one. WatchGuard's Wi-Fi 6 access points, including the AP230W, are managed in WatchGuard Cloud rather than from a Firebox, so it works behind any firewall. If you run a cloud-managed Firebox, you can manage both from the same WatchGuard Cloud account.

Plug the uplink port into a PoE+ (802.3at) switch or injector, or use the optional AC power supply for the AP230W. Either way, a single cable to the wall handles both data and power when you use PoE+.

Yes. One of its four wired LAN ports supplies 802.3af PoE out, so it can power a VoIP phone, camera, or similar device in the same room. PoE out only works when the AP itself is powered by PoE+ or the AC adapter, and WatchGuard recommends not using it to power another access point.

The AP230W is built for indoor wall installs and ships with a mounting bracket. It sits flat against the wall, which makes it a clean fit for hotel rooms, dorms, classrooms, and small offices where a ceiling unit would be overkill.

Yes. WatchGuard Cloud handles setup, monitoring, and reporting for your access points alongside other WatchGuard products like Firebox and endpoint security. It scales from a single AP to an unlimited number of APs across multiple locations.
